Job Description


Your mission during this flight:

As Head of Flight Control and Navigation you will lead the development of the flight control system for Volocopter’s next generation aircraft. You will interface with other disciplines to identify the system requirements, organize the project timeline and guide the development of the next generation flight control system.

  • You will organize project timelines and team members to facilitate flight control system development
  • You will provide technical leadership towards a certifiable flight control system for Volocopter’s next generation aircraft
  • You will work with other discipline leads to identify system requirements
  • You will drive aircraft performance targets and high-level requirements of the flight control system
  • You will contribute to system level documentation of flight control system
  • You will define the strategic roadmap for the flight control law, its functionality and its systems

Qualifications


Check in your professional skills:

  • Degree in Robotics/Electronics/Aeronautics engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in aircraft flight control and auto-flight systems and control functions,
  • Extensive experience with flight control system design, including aircraft control and safety monitoring functions in a certification environment,
  • Experience in leading development of design and development of control system functions and test platforms including, SiL, HiL, PiL simulators, aircraft ground and flight tests environments,
  • Knowledge of flight handling qualities, flight envelope, aircraft performance, and aircraft structural limitations,
  • Experience with system engineering practices like FHA and FMEA,
  • Working knowledge of Airborne software, control law design, and development assurance processes (RTCA DO-178C & 254),
  • Experience with software development tooling, such as version control tools such as Git,
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English (German is a plus)
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for electrifying the aircraft industry.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in software related project management (e.g. Jira),
  • Experience with C/C++, Python programming languages is a plus,
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles such as SAE ARP 4754/4761 for safety critical systems is a plus,
  • Software design experience and documentation is a plus,
  • Knowledge of legal basis for certification of VTOLs (SC-VTOL, CS23/25/27/29).
