(Senior) Mechanical Design Engineer - Battery / ESU (m/f/d)
Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring sustainable urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. In 2011 we carried out the first-ever crewed flight of a fully electric multicopter and have since conducted more than 2,000 public and private test flights across the world (www.volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight:
As the Structural Design Engineer, your mission is to ensure that the mechanical design of the Battery (Electrical Storage Unit) sub-components complies with the requirements and pass the certification process. You will provide technical expertise to ensure the company goals for successful design of the Energy Storage Unit are achieved.
Your responsibilities are:
- Define and manage the relevant requirements of the ESU sub-components
- Develop their mechanical design through the whole lifecycle from early architecture and concept through serial production
- Work closely with the internal and external supplier teams to develop the mechanical design and build of hardware
- Develop a verification strategy for meeting the requirements, including certification plans and exchanges with the certification Authority (e.g. EASA)
- Generate and manage the related design documentation and data within Teamcenter Engineering
- Perform the analysis (models/simulation) to support design decisions
- Provide the relevant documentation trough the engineering gates (PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.)
- Ensure build in quality to our design, generate design assessments if needed and participate root cause assessments
