The Opportunity:

Join a growing team dedicated to the development and management of energy infrastructure, community economic development, corporate social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and participation in the success of a highly ethical and competitive, privately held company. This is a full-time position based in the Boston office.

The Associate will be part of the Asset Management group, focusing on power generation projects in both construction and operation. The Commercial Team manages commodity market risk for a portfolio of assets across several North American regions and develops strategies to drive shareholder returns.

Responsibilities:

The Associate will assist with:

  • Managing gas and electricity market positions, offtake agreements, economic analysis, and other project-level commercial arrangements
  • Analyzing historical and forward market data to support commodity transaction execution
  • Building and maintaining industry knowledge of energy markets (power, gas, RECs), transmission, and emerging trends
  • Managing a SQL database and associated Python ETL (extract, transform, load) pipelines for commodity prices and asset performance metrics
  • Generating internal and external financial performance reports
  • Maintaining and developing hedge settlement and financial forecasting models
  • Collaborating across Asset Management functions to maximize performance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in finance, economics, engineering, accounting, environmental studies, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in power generation or the energy commodity industry
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Advanced MS Excel and data processing capabilities
  • Experience with Python (Pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy, Psycopg2)
  • Experience with Excel automation (VBA, XLWings, OpenPyXL, WinCom32)
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, PGAdmin)
  • Experience establishing and maintaining API connections
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization
  • Knowledge of quantitative financial methods used in commodity transactions (swaps, futures, options, etc.)
  • Strong interest in U.S. energy markets
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
