Your Mission as Investment Manager Forest & Agriculture

At Viessmann, we believe that investing in nature is investing in the future. As our Investment Manager for Forest & Agriculture, you will play a crucial role in shaping the group’s real asset strategy within our climate and food portfolio. This role goes far beyond managing capital—it’s about actively driving the transformation of land-based assets into long-term, sustainable value.

You will be responsible for developing and managing a diversified portfolio of forest, agricultural, and land-related real estate assets. By applying your investment acumen and analytical precision, you’ll help us grow a resilient asset base that supports both our strategic and environmental goals.

Reporting directly to the senior leadership of our investment platform, you will act as a key contributor in designing and executing investment strategies that align with Viessmann’s broader purpose of co-creating living spaces for generations to come. This role combines deep portfolio management with high-level strategic engagement, offering you the platform to influence not just investments, but the future of sustainable asset ownership.

This is your opportunity to co-create Viessmann’s long-term value engine—combining capital, climate-consciousness, and entrepreneurial thinking.

What Your Day Looks Like

This is not a role where you’ll be crunching numbers from behind a desk. It’s a position where you actively shape the investment blueprint for how nature-based assets can generate long-term impact and financial resilience.

A typical day might begin with a strategic analysis of land-use potential across Europe, followed by a detailed consultation with a forestry expert based in the Nordics. By midday, you may be presenting a capital deployment scenario to Viessmann’s senior leadership team—translating environmental value into clear, data-backed investment strategies. Later, you could find yourself on-site, walking through forest tracts or agricultural estates alongside local stakeholders, assessing not only return on investment but also the ecological legacy of each asset.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading rigorous investment analyses and executing transactions across a variety of nature-based real assets, including forestry, agriculture, and rural landholdings. You will translate complex datasets into clear, actionable investment theses through sophisticated financial models, scenario planning, and performance tracking frameworks. Beyond analysis, you will also be tasked with managing and steering key portfolio performance indicators to ensure that each asset contributes meaningfully to long-term value, resilience, and regenerative impact.

Asset allocation will form a core part of your mandate. You will be expected to make high-stakes investment decisions that carefully balance risk with opportunity, all while preserving the long-term interests of the portfolio. As part of the strategic leadership team, you will brief senior executives with clarity and conviction—transforming your insights into actions that shape broader portfolio strategy.

Your remit also includes identifying opportunities for repositioning and unlocking hidden value across the land-based portfolio. This will require a strong commercial mindset, combined with an understanding of environmental and operational dynamics. Navigating a complex stakeholder landscape—from regulators and compliance officers to field operators and community leaders—will be a consistent part of the role, demanding both excellent communication skills and a deep sense of purpose alignment.

Crucially, this role is not removed from the assets it manages. You will regularly travel across Europe to forests, farms, and rural estates, experiencing firsthand the impact of your decisions and ensuring that every investment supports a legacy of environmental stewardship and financial strength.

At Viessmann, investment is not solely about financial return. It is a long-term commitment to responsibility—shaping how land is valued, preserved, and enhanced in a rapidly evolving world.

What You Bring

You bring more than just experience—you bring a strong sense of purpose and the ability to navigate capital markets with a compass firmly set toward long-term impact. Your academic background is rooted in disciplines such as Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Agricultural Sciences, or a closely related field, providing you with a solid foundation to understand both financial and ecological value creation.

With over ten years of professional experience in investment management, corporate finance, or portfolio strategy, you have developed a comprehensive understanding of real assets—particularly those related to forestry, agriculture, or land use. Your analytical capabilities are a core strength: you are fully fluent in developing sophisticated cash flow models, conducting benchmarking analyses, and building scenario plans that guide strategic decisions.

You possess deep expertise in asset allocation and portfolio construction, with a nuanced grasp of return/risk tradeoffs and optimization strategies. Just as importantly, you are able to transform complex data into clear, compelling strategies, especially when engaging with senior stakeholders across different disciplines and cultural contexts.

Your mindset is both strategic and entrepreneurial. You thrive in hands-on environments, take full accountability for outcomes, and are consistently oriented toward sustainable growth. You are fully fluent in both German and English at a professional level (C1 or higher), and you are equally confident and persuasive in both languages—whether presenting to executive teams or engaging stakeholders in the field.

Finally, you bring a genuine appetite for field engagement. You are comfortable with frequent travel across diverse geographies and understand the irreplaceable value of being present where the assets are—walking the land, meeting local stakeholders, and seeing firsthand the impact of every decision you help shape.
