Summary:

The Project Manager Distribution will provide oversight, quality performance, and work scheduling for steam, chilled water and hot water distribution systems, construction, and other assigned people. The Project Manager Distribution will manage all aspects of delivering distribution projects on time and on budget. The Project Manager Distribution will ensure that all work performed by internal and external resources are done in compliance with all safety regulations and policies that are well established. The Project Manager Distribution will document all costs and issues related to the delivery of the work.


The Project Manager Distribution will assist the O&M staff in developing project plans, design, and implementation schedules that are closely coordinated with maintaining services to our customers. This position will be responsible for reliable and continuous service to customers and will supervise day-to-day operations of various assigned projects to ensure the operations, maintenance, and vendor management standards of the contracts are met. This position is located in Baltimore, MD and reports to the Distribution Manager.


The compensation range for this position is $90-125K plus 15% annual bonus target.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe working conditions, identify, correct, or report unsafe conditions in all work areas.
  • Assists in planning, prioritizing and directing scheduled and non-scheduled system and customer outages for maintenance and capital projects.
  • Assures that proper maintenance is being completed on all assigned customer services, non-customer piping systems, and equipment located on department trucks.
  • Manage document control for distribution activities, including drawings, procedures, revisions, maintenance records, and system documentation.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to interpret project drawings, update distribution system layouts, and support maintenance and construction planning.
  • Maintains a cost-effective inventory control for department, initiates purchasing requisitions, and approvals.
  • Assists with scheduling manpower, materials, and equipment for daily operational needs.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate logs, reports, procedures, drawings, and system documentation, ensure all materials are stored and controlled according to company document control standards.
  • Utilize and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, update, and close work orders, track asset performance, ensure data accuracy, and support planning, scheduling, and compliance reporting.
  • Respond to emergencies, outages, or operational needs during nights, weekends, or holidays as required.
  • Perform manhole entries and field inspections to verify work quality, safety, and system conditions.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in utility construction.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of steam and the operation of valves, pumps, expansion joint / trap repair and maintenance.
  • Thorough understanding of the principles and safety precautions required for overseeing proper maintenance of manhole equipment and safety.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, technical manuals, and policy.


Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering.


Other Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and be detail oriented in a deadline-driven fast-paced environment.
  • Requires excellent time management, organization and prioritization capability and excellent communication and organizational skills.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must submit to company provided pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
  • Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
  • The employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment and clothing where appropriate because of their work around potential hazards such as loud noise, airborne particles, vibration, and hazardous materials. This protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, safety eyewear, footwear, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, respiratory protection, and specialized clothing where applicable.
  • Must be able to work in extremes of hot and cold temperatures and inclement weather conditions. Must be able to work internally in the physical plant and externally on the facility’s grounds or at other company sites.
  • Must be able to tolerate dust and other airborne particles and other materials such as diesel and lube oils.
  • Must adhere to personal hygiene grooming standards from a safety perspective.
  • May require repetitive stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, and carrying; intermittent lifting, and moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, high-lifts, and in confined spaces.
