Starting pay rate is $51.41/hr

Primary Purpose Of Position

Under direct supervision performs tasks on equipment and systems associated with the James A. FitzPatrick Plan and Site. Under general supervision performs Operator tasks which the Apprentice has completed in the Apprenticeship Program. Maintains the cleanliness and housekeeping of workshops and equipment in current work areas. Completes training in the Apprenticeship Program at the pace and knowledge level prescribed in the Apprentice and Training Standard.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have no restrictions preventing the use of respiratory equipment or preventing performance as an Apprentice Auxiliary Operator.

Must have no physical or age restrictions preventing radiation exposure within Federal limits for radiation workers.

Must pass aptitude test.

Must have a High School education with demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand English and perform mathematical computations.

Must demonstrate dexterity for the Operator trade.

Must be accepted by the Apprentice Committee as an Apprentice Auxiliary Operator.

Preferred Qualifications

1 year of technical experience, which includes any of the following: work performed in power production, petrochemical or other industrial process plants during operational, maintenance, design, or training activities. Alternative relevant experience examples include operation and maintenance of equipment, such as HVAC, electrical and maintenance technicians. OR

2 years of experience in operations or maintenance of a non-generating nuclear power facility (e.g. Navy Nuclear operations or maintenance training/experience or operations or maintenance experience at a DOE facility) OR

A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related science program OR

An Associates of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology or related science program OR

43 credit hours of post-secondary education of which 75% (at least 8 courses or 32 hours) is advanced math, physics, chemistry and/or engineering/engineering technology.
