Senior Specialist - Finish & Paint Tooling Engineer - Taranto, Italy
We are looking for a Senior Specialist – Finish & Paint Tooling Engineer to join our Blades Process Engineering team in Taranto.
In this role, you will lead the development, specification, and optimization of tooling solutions for Finish & Paint processes in blade manufacturing. You will manage supplier collaboration, CAPEX planning, and maintenance strategies while applying continuous improvement and digital tools to ensure stable, efficient, and high-quality operations aligned with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize tooling for Finish & Paint processes.
- Define tooling requirements, specifications, and industrialization standards.
- Create tooling and supplier roadmaps based on AS IS / future state analysis.
- Lead supplier management and CAPEX budgeting.
- Define maintenance strategies including TPM and EAM.
- Optimize existing tooling in use today.
- Apply digital tools (digital twins, data analytics) for performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Investigate and resolve production issues using structured problem-solving (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Drive continuous improvement using SPC, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen.
- Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- Green Belt in Six Sigma or Advanced Manufacturing Process Analysis.
- Around 10 years of experience in tooling engineering or related roles.
Proven expertise in:
- Tool development and functional requirement specifications
- Supplier management and tooling projects
- Maintenance plan definition
- CAPEX planning and execution
- Data-driven process analysis and optimization
Competencies
- Expertise in tool design and specification for Finish & Paint, including quality control and online measurement equipment.
- Strong understanding of automation in manufacturing to improve quality and efficiency.
- Knowledge of composite materials (paint, fiberglass, epoxy resins, coatings).
- Skilled in structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis in production.
- Familiar with CE marking, local safety standards, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
- Experienced in Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma methodologies.
- Comfortable working in a factory environment to solve real-time issues.
- Strong organizational discipline, self-motivation, and results orientation.
- Able to build cross-functional networks across cultures and time zones.
- Customer-focused with a holistic view of the value chain.
- Committed to continuous learning and improvement.
