Professional - Logistic & Handling Tooling Engineer - Taranto, Italy
We are seeking a Professional – Logistic & Handling Tooling Engineer to join our Blades Process Engineering team in Taranto.
In this role, you will contribute to the development, specification, and optimization of tooling for handling and logistics in wind turbine blade manufacturing. You will support supplier management, participate in tooling projects, and contribute to maintenance strategies and continuous improvement. Your focus will be on ensuring tooling solutions are safe, reliable, and aligned with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) performance targets.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize tools for the handling and logistics of blade materials, components, and full blades.
- Define tooling requirements and specifications.
- Support supplier management and tool delivery (TPM).
- Contribute to service and maintenance strategies, including EAM.
- Participate in tooling optimization for equipment already in use.
- Investigate and resolve production issues using structured methods (5 Whys, Fishbone).
- Apply Lean principles to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and ensure product quality.
- Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Green Belt Lean certification (preferred).
- Around 6 years of experience in tooling engineering or similar roles.
Experience with:
- Tool development and functional specifications.
- Maintenance plan definition.
- Participation in tooling projects.
- Data-driven work environments.
- Process optimization and standardization using Lean and related tools.
Competencies
- Ability to capture functional and non-functional requirements for tooling design.
- Knowledge of equipment for handling and storing large components without damage.
- Familiarity with CE marking, safety standards, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with problem-solving tools and root-cause analysis.
- Strong data-driven decision-making skills.
- Collaborative, proactive, and disciplined in organizational tasks.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional and multicultural environments.
- Willingness to work directly in production areas to understand and solve issues.
- Customer-oriented, with a clear view of the value chain from a client perspective.
- Eagerness to learn and continuously develop technical expertise.
