We are looking for a Specialist – Logistic & Handling Tooling Engineer to join our Blades Process Engineering organization in Taranto.

In this role, you will contribute to the development, specification, and optimization of tooling for the handling and logistics of wind turbine blades and components. You will support supplier management, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring our tooling systems are safe, efficient, and standardized. With a focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC), you will help strengthen the link between engineering and manufacturing, bringing innovation and accountability into daily operations.


Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize tools for the handling and logistics of blade materials, components, and full blades.
  • Define tooling requirements, specifications, and industrialization standards.
  • Support supplier management and tooling delivery (TPM).
  • Contribute to service and maintenance strategies, including EAM systems.
  • Drive tool optimization projects for tools already in use.
  • Ensure equipment complies with CE marking, safety regulations, sustainability, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Use structured methods (5 Whys, Fishbone) to solve production issues.
  • Apply Lean principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Green Belt Lean certification (preferred).
  • Around 8 years of experience in tooling engineering or related roles.

Experience with:

  • Tool development and functional specifications.
  • Maintenance plan definition.
  • Leading tooling-related projects.
  • Data analysis and decision-making in production environments.
  • Process optimization and standardization in manufacturing.

Competencies

  • Ability to capture requirements and design tools for manufacturability and maintainability.
  • Strong understanding of handling and storage equipment for large components.
  • Knowledge of mechanical tolerances, safety, sustainability, and automation.
  • Hands-on experience in root-cause analysis and structured problem solving.
  • Preferably, familiarity with composite materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, and epoxy resins.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision-making and use of problem-solving tools.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and results-driven, with excellent organizational discipline.
  • Able to work across cultures and time zones in large organizations.
  • Willing to spend time on the shop floor to understand and resolve issues.
