WTG Authorizing Engineer
Part of the Technical Support Team of the Installation and Commissioning Team, primarily responsible for maintaining WTSR(Wind Turbine Safety Rules) standards and helping enforce Safe System of Work practices within the offshore windfarms to ensure personnel safety is kept as the highest priority. Ensure that all wind turbine operations adhere to the safety rules and regulations set by industry and regulatory bodies, develop and implement safety rules, procedures and work instructions for wind turbine operations and monitor adherence to those rules.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement safety rules and procedures for wind turbine operations.
Ensure compliance with industry and regulatory safety rules and regulations.
Create, review, and approve safety documentation for wind turbine operations.
Provide safety training and education for wind turbine personnel.
Investigate safety incidents and accidents and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Maintain records of safety incidents, audits, and corrective actions.
Keep up to date with industry and regulatory safety rules and regulations.
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance personnel, and operations personnel to ensure safety rules are effectively implemented.
Support the implementation and maintenance of the Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and Electrical Safety standards for Service sites and the installation and commissioning phase ensuring a safe and controlled environment on Offshore wind farms sites in the area
Follow, understand and advise on local procedures on Control of Hazardous Energy / Electrical Safety standards, particularly to areas where alternative safe systems / methods of work may be applied.
Support in new procedure implementation and that all personnel are properly trained/inducted in their use and application as defined by their roles and levels of responsibilities/authorisation.
Support all documentation and record keeping associated with the Control of Hazardous Energy / Electrical Safety program. This includes the main responsibility for creating, reviewing and approving of procedures in line with Vestas management instructions. This also includes the review and approval of Method Statements, Work Instructions and Risk Assessments.
Provide technical support to Site Management and technicians onshore as well as offshore, into mechanical / electrical related safety and operations issues
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experienced with Bachelor degree of Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
3 working offshore as technical advisor,
Background on crane certification and lifting appliance certification.
Knowledge of EN 50110-1 Operation of Electrical Installations / EAWR and other Standards applicable for the region of employment
Ideally relevant previous wind industry technical & operational experience working with VWS or MVOW Wind Turbines
Several years experience with LOTO/WTSR/HV Rules
Good knowledge of WTSR, HV Safety Rules, similar Safe Systems of Work, supporting procedures and documentation
Proficient Microsoft Office user
Good communication and presentation skills in English
Relevant technical qualification
Proven experience in a safety engineering role in the wind turbine industry.
Good knowledge of industry and regulatory safety rules and regulations.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyse data and make sound safety recommendations.
Experience with safety auditing and inspection processes.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective corrective actions.
Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel to wind turbine sites for safety inspections and audits.
