The Powertrain Module in Vestas Power Solutions is responsible for developing the complete Vestas powertrain for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. The module consists of 3 submodules, Lubrication & MBA (Main Bearing Arrangement), Gearbox, and Generator. The Lubrication & MBA submodule is responsible and accountable for the design solutions of (i) the powertrain lubrication system, (ii) the main bearings, and (iii) the structural components.

The Lubrication & MBA submodule team is located in three hubs, Aarhus in Denmark, Porto in Portugal, and Chennai, India.



Responsibilities

  • Identify requirements for the rotor lock system from high-level specifications
  • Define interfaces to the other systems
  • Design and specify components like cylinders, manifolds, pipes, and fittings for extreme and fatigue loads
  • Be part of the development team providing and implementing new solutions for new development projects
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, in coordination with international suppliers to provide optimum solutions
  • Verify the rotor lock system by the mean of test and calculation methods
  • Support the Implementation of the rotor system into production
  • Drive VA/VE activities to optimize product cost to required performances
  • Participate in the estimation of a component's lifetime
  • Monitor the performance of the rotor lock systems on all installed turbines through Life Cycle Management


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge about automated systems is an added value
  • Good technical understanding of hydraulic systems and automation
  • Specific experience within the wind industry (during studies) is beneficial but not required
  • Enthusiastic about practical work on tests and verification as well as theoretical knowledge
  • Fluency in English
  • Good communication skills
