Protective Functions Sub-module is part of the Blades development organization, and we are responsible to ensure the development, performance, and effective integration of protection and health monitoring systems on Wind turbine Blades. These systems include Lightening Protection, Cold Climate (De ice and Anti-Ice) and Blade Health Monitoring solutions. In Blades Protective Functions we are end-to -end accountable for the design and performance of the above systems even under harsh environmental conditions. To deliver the best solutions to our customers, the team has a wide range of design competencies, going from Multiphysics modelling, structural design to test & validation of our systems and components.
The Protective Functions team has a vast global footprint and is very multicultural, with engineers in Portugal, UK, USA and China with different engineering backgrounds, going from systems engineering, electrical, mechanical and physics.


Responsibilities

  • You will report to the VP of Blades and be responsible for both people leadership and the technical scope of the department, which is shared with the blades technical management department. As people Leader, you will be responsible to develop employees to operate on the highest level of their performance and potential.
  • You must also ensure the collaboration between internal and external stakeholders to bring the best solutions through the value chain and lifecycle of the systems, with constant focus on customer value.
  • On detail your responsibilities will cover:
  • People management - one-to-one dialogues, performance strategies, development plans
  • Coordinate resources and efficiently coordinate bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Tech Leads to accomplish project milestones on time and on budget
  • Department budgeting and resource allocations
  • Implement optimizations on processes and tools to improve efficiency and increase quality
  • Department strategy and roadmap
  • Deploy Vestas strategy
  • Technical quality of department deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in relevant technical engineering areas (Systems Engineering, Electrical, Materials, Mechanical or other relevant)
  • Experience on managing teams
  • Experience with Agile philosophy
  • Good cultural understanding
  • You have the desire and the ability to understand and maintain overview of a wide range of advanced technical domains
  • Good communication skills in English, both speaking and writing
