Act as a global Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding product technology around blade construction and repair and communicate with customer’s engineers and consultants. Independently plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work as part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Independently perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, Unsuitability of standard materials, and Difficult coordination requirements. Respond to technical inquiries from construction, service, technical sales, and external customers, delivering responses on time and with the required level of quality. Facilitate globalization of locally developed solutions and improvements. Present technology at conferences and serve as a regional technology expert in supporting Vestas commercial operations. Independently carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. This requires the use of advanced techniques and modification and extension of theories, precepts, and practices in the field of engineering and related disciplines. Understand customer and operational needs and use knowledge to develop and drive technical solutions. Coordinate and communicate with Vestas Research & Development as required for ongoing product development and reliability projects. Perform technical reviews of colleague’s work, including calculations, technical documentation, drawings, test plans, and formal communication. Train, mentor, and develop colleagues to improve functional expertise and maximize the performance and retention of Engineering team members. Provide technical guidance to Operations with tooling, up-tower repair, and maintenance and inspection expertise. Participate in industry groups supporting wind technology.
Qualifications / Requirements:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent in Polymer, Composite, Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressively responsible post- Bachelor’s degree related experience in job offered or related occupation.
The position also requires experience with all of the following:
5 years of experience in the implementation, operation, system standards and service of wind turbine blades and experience in project management and systematic problem-solving methodology (8D, DMAIC, etc.); 5 years of experience in engineering with background in solving problems; 5 years of experience in rotor blade breakdown and schedule service maintenance; 5 years of experience with blade structural repairs in glass/carbon; 5 years of experience with wind turbine blade mobile repair tools and techniques; 3 years of experience with onsite forensic analysis on a blade failure incident; 2 years of experience with the construction of blades.
