VPS Region NCE represents the corporate product & technology organisation Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) in the 6+ GW p.a. regional business unit
Northern & Central Europe (NCE), spanning west to east from Ireland to Kazakhstan and north to south from Norway to Uzbekistan and across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with On- & Offshore wind at the core.
Our main responsibilities centre around technical contracting, technical value engineering, customisation and execution as well as regional product market strategy and product integrity management.
Our NCE Technical Sales Management team is consisting of Technical Bid Engineers, Siting Solutions Engineers and Grid Integration Engineers, strategically spread throughout Northern and Central European countries, covering some of the most exciting markets in onshore wind.
You will join the NCE East and Development region, where you will collaborate with a close-knit group of wind industry experts across several functions including Sales, Construction, Transportation, and Operations, supporting the green energy transition of Eastern European countries.
The Siting Solutions team is accountable for providing fully optimised wind power plant layouts and turbine configurations which satisfy both internal requirements, such as lifetime, warranty, loading, safety, contribution margin maximisation, as well as external requirements such as levelised cost of energy, financeability and customer preferences.


Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as a Lead Siting Solutions Engineer will be to act as an outward focused technical customer advisor ensuring supply of fully optimized wind power plant layouts and wind turbine configurations on a bid/request for a project.
After an intensive induction, you will be assigned to Vestas' siting activities mainly in South Eastern Europe. Further, you will

  • Develop project specific siting technical solutions to maximize project value while managing risks, and develop tools and collaborate on projects utilizing siting data to create value
  • Utilize knowledge of Vestas turbines and regional wind conditions to provide expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify market requirements and trends to promote product, tool, and process development, and develop and handle relationships with customers and their consultants
  • Enable efficient interfaces between Sales, Technical Sales, Customers, Independent Engineers, and Central Technical Functions
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and collaboration across regional and Global Siting teams through coaching, mentoring, open and effective communication, and feedback
  • Defend Vestas siting results and support customers efforts to finance Vestas turbines with third party consultants
  • Besides all the engineering aspects you´ll need to have impeccable customer service awareness

Qualifications

  • This position requires minimum a bachelor's degree in Engineering, preference within Mechanical, Aeronautical or Renewables Engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in working with computers, software applications and coding.
  • Solid investigative and methodical skills
  • High level oral and written communication skills and good customer service skills to work with customers, consultants, and cross-functional teams, fluent in business English is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on Wind / Energy Resource Development department, supporting business development team on prospecting activities; greenfield assessments, supporting permitting activities, defining met masts and remote sensors (LIDAR or SODAR) characteristics, defining temporal and spatial representativeness of the measurement campaign to reduce uncertainties, layout design, energy yield, and uncertainty assessments, completing energy and suitability analysis for industrial-scale wind and or hybrid power plants.
  • Experience with IEC standards for wind turbine design and completion of power performance testing.
  • Experience with operational performance assessments of wind and solar power plants, using WAsP, WindPro, OpenWind, CFD, or Mesoscale modeling for wind power applications
  • Knowledge of the various market segments within the South East European Region, the main business case drivers for each segment, and typical strategies used by the major actors in the market

Additional information
Primary work location will be Hamburg, Germany (Alternative working location can be considered upon finding the best suitable candidate).
This position requires approximately 20% time for travel, therefore travel availability in the South East European Region is a requirement.
