Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Tower Module > Value Engineering
In Vestas Power Solutions, in the Tower module, there's a team of Highly skilled engineers committed to developing solutions for customization and value engineering of the towers. Tower value engineering department is responsible for providing optimized tower solution to Vestas tower program. The tasks range from understanding the design requirement and requirement specification, designing tower using analytical and FEM calculations, designing tower components, performing DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation.Tower value engineering is extension of global tower Module. The department is responsible for provide customized tower solution for sales order, design modification for local market and to provide innovative design solution for life extension of old turbine tower along with fulfilling certification need.
Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Additionally, process efficiency and lead time reduction is of key importance in order to fulfill Vestas's overall ambitions of delivering products, which are configured to customer needs in a timely manner. The team is in Chennai, India.
Responsibilities
Design new solutions from early conceptualization to final detail design with the full value chain mindset
Design should be robust during production, installation, service and decommissioning
Coordinate with cross- functional teams across value chain and develop the project & Deliverables and ensure Targets/deadlines are met
Creation of BoM; 3D models (Part & Assembly); 2D drawings
Creation of Technical documentations i.e Production Work instructions, Assembly work instruction, Service documentation, process documentation etc
Conduct Technical Meetings; Scope, Create & Allocate Work packages and Review solutions
Qualifications
Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Automotive / Similar Specialization
Minimum professional with 3+ Years of experience in new product development within the wind industry or similar
Proven experience in delivering technical work-packages
Proven experience with Design methodologies and Approach; Concept selection methodologies (i.e Pugh Matrix or such)
Mechanical design and BoM creation using CAD tools, like CREO, PDMLink Windchill, Experience in handling Heavy models
Experience in Technical documentations
Experience with Structural Analysis and FE Analysis
Exposure to DFMEA, HSE Risk analysis
Competencies
Ability to coordinate and handle multiple stakeholders
Great interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multi-cultural and diverse teams all around the globe
Customer-focused and solution-oriented
Proven ability to work both with limited supervision and in teams in an environment with tight deadlines
Open-minded and good at sharing and gathering information within a team to bridge the gap between design and value chain
Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Ability to plan, scope and organize work package execution
Self-motivated and target focused - Innovative and enthusiastic with good attention to detail and willingness to take ownership to meet expectations
