Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you will find our department, Tower Module, which is part of the Aerodynamic & Mechanical area.

The Tower Module department is developing and maintaining the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from business case evaluations to structural engineering, requirement management, design risk assessment, test planning, project execution, and the creation of certification documentation.

Our department is accountable for the final approval of module requirements, technical quality, risks, and solutions across the value chain and the various tower sub-modules. The team liaises with the product platforms on module requirement analysis and required performance steps and coordinates feasibility studies.

The focus is on securing cross-functional alignment across tower sub-modules and the full value chain, from procurement and manufacturing to transport, installation, and service.

Our team is situated in three different locations: Denmark, Portugal, and India. You will sit amongst highly motivated people from many areas around the world who are always willing to help and provide support.


Responsibilities

The role of senior functional lead in Tower Technology has great strategic importance, with many interfaces within and outside the organization. You will develop the long-term technology strategy and ideation campaigns and mature the technology roadmap. In collaboration with the Tower Technology sub-module, you are overall accountable for:

  • Build an idea generation campaign for the roadmap update.

  • Participate in the establishment of long-term technology vision tracks.

  • Mature Tower Technology Roadmap and ensure alignment with Tower Module strategy, market demand, and product needs.

  • Review and approve the scope of technology projects.

  • Manage technical risks by acting as the technical review leader and supporting mitigations in the Technology sub-module.

  • Maintain governance and best practices concerning technology projects.

  • Review the master project catalog and share it with relevant universities.

  • Facilitate development activities and projects with technology partners, such as strategic suppliers and universities.


Qualifications

To fit well into the position, you should ideally possess the following qualifications:

  • Structural or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent work experience

  • 10+ years of experience with innovation management and key positions within product development or R&D

  • Technical leadership skills and technical project management experience

  • Hands-on experience with structural design codes, design certification, modularization, or product architecture

  • Practical experience with design, development, and standardization in wind turbines, commercial vehicles, heavy-duty, automotive, aeronautical, defense, or similar industries will be preferred
