Vestas Global Procurement is responsible for all procurement activities within Vestas, including leading cross functional category teams, negotiations and contract management, development of end-2-end cost out initiatives, category strategy development and supplier relationship management.
As Manager for the Tower Materials Procurement team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our tower supply chain globally, enabling us to deliver reliable, cost-efficient, and sustainable solutions to our customers. This position will be part of the Towers & Steel category. This team, with members spread across all continents, is commercially responsible for Vestas global network of external tower manufacturing plants and the related procurement of all raw materials required for these.


Responsibilities


You will join a high-profiled position where you will lead business and people. Your everyday activities will be characterized by a fast-paced environment and requirement to engage in, plan and prioritize between multiple critical projects. Overall expected deliverables include, among others:
  • Define, align and implement the commodity strategies for Tower Materials in collaboration with key internal stakeholders (ex: R&D, SQD, etc.) and guide your team to execute on those strategies
  • Lead, develop and motivate the global team members (both direct and indirect reports), and ensure that an effective matrix organization can meet current and future business needs in all regions
  • Be accountable for the delivery of agreed savings and value-add targets, as well as for the delivery of required inputs into Vestas' processes and key projects (ex: budgeting and cost tracking, new product introduction, modularization, outsourcing, etc)
  • Ensure that the team can close negotiations on the lowest total cost of ownership with an end-to-end perspective of the value chain, thanks to advanced sourcing techniques and in adherence to corporate processes and standards
  • Be an ambassador of cross-functional collaboration and build a significant network within Vestas, including close engagement in the Tower module (R&D) and with support functions
  • Build supply market intelligence to inform and advice the team and management about important trends in the tower market and exploit these for the benefits of the Vestas business
  • Identify and implement on new business opportunities across the value chain

Qualifications

  • Significant previous experience with managing and leading teams in a dynamic and international context
  • Communicate and interact effectively across organizational and cultural boundaries, both internally and externally, and towards all management level
  • Can do attitude, with a process driven mindset and the capability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Be result oriented and take lead in achieving the team goals
  • Work through others and influence colleagues and stakeholders with a high degree of commitment, storytelling, and execution power
  • Demonstrate commitment, maturity, flexibility, and speed in response to business needs and challenges
  • Be an efficient negotiator through proven commercial skills, perform well in a time-sensitive situation and never compromise on integrity and ethics

Competencies

  • To succeed in this role, you need a broad understanding of the Wind Tower market combined with a good understanding of Commodity management and people management
  • You need to be a effective leader and role model for your own team and the organization with the ability to both delegate and execute independently

Additional information


Your primary work location will be Aarhus, Denmark, or Porto. The role includes up to 30 days of international travel yearly.
