Vestas has a longstanding commitment to advancing Siting research and development, focusing on Wind Resource and Site Suitability assessments. Over the last decade, Vestas has been at the forefront of integrating high-performance computing, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and mesoscale modeling into the wind energy industry.
The Global Siting team utilizes their advanced expertise to provide tailored, location-based solutions for our clients. As a member of this team, you will play a crucial role in integrating innovation into the siting assessment process. This highly skilled team ensures Vestas remains at the forefront of siting assessments, working collaboratively across departments to maintain the highest quality standards in the tools used by Vestas’ global Siting community.
The siting assessment at Vestas encompasses both onshore and offshore sites, covering the entire project lifecycle—from early site development and identification to post-sales opportunities.
As a Lead Specialist – Siting Solutions, your primary responsibilities include:
- Serve as an expert resource for Siting engineers, providing in-depth knowledge and solutions
- Guide cross-functional teams within the Siting community to enhance specific areas of the siting assessment process. Collaborate with various stakeholders across Vestas to promote innovation within the Siting community
- Engage with external stakeholders to stay informed on the latest research and developments in the siting domain
- Understand and address the challenges and opportunities across the entire siting domain. Maintain and apply knowledge of global standards related to the Siting process and methodologies
- Develop and implement a roadmap to elevate the Vestas Siting community to the next level
- Oversee the development of Siting Roadmaps, tools, and products to ensure Vestas remains at the forefront of siting technology and innovation, achieving operational excellence
- Facilitate the rollout of new tools and processes within the siting and technical bid management domains
Qualifications
Your qualifications include:
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Conversion Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 12 to 15 years of experience in site suitability assessment (Wind & Site), with expertise in at least one of the following areas: siting, loads, climate, or metrology
- Proficiency in using tools such as WASP, WindPRO, Windfarmer, or OpenWind
- Knowledge of hybrid solutions, including the integration of wind, solar, batteries, Power-to-X, Wind turbine generator controllers, and loads
- Experience in offshore siting is beneficial
