Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you'll find our department, Backup Systems & NAI, as part of Applications, Controls & Electrical.
Our team is involved in various activities including innovation projects, feasibility studies and prototype testing, while focusing on product development as our main goal. The core outputs within Backup Systems are the complete design of electrical power backup consisting of specifications of the electrical panels and power back-up functions. Our core competencies are within electrical engineering, integration of products and requirements specifications.
Our team is responsible for providing power to critical systems during grid disturbances with various AC or DC UPS systems (high power DC Li-ion systems, 24V UPS etc), to ensure ride through and operation of those critical systems throughout the event. We own this from idea phase all the way from manufacturing, commissioning, operation, maintenance and decommission.
Responsibilities
As Lead Engineer – Electrical backup system, your main responsibilities are to handle and provide solutions for the backup system. Apart from that your primary responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering high-quality design solutions within specified timeframes and budgets, while also improving efficiency
- Collaborating closely with global R&D teams and external suppliers
- Creating designs in accordance with Vestas' stage gate model, covering all stages from early idea/concept development to detailed design, verification, and implementation in labs and wind turbines
- Offering electrical support to Service Technicians, aiding in troubleshooting and repair via phone, ticketing system, or on-site visits
- Assessing damages on main components, conducting root cause analysis, and providing recommendations to the Service organization
- Identifying, developing, and validating technical improvement measures as part of the continuous improvement process
- Responding to technical inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, participating in customer or supplier meetings, and attending seminars
Qualifications
Your qualifications include:
- Bachelors or master’s in electrical engineering, marine engineering or similar
- Experience in low voltage electrical design
- Experience in designing electrical backup systems
- Knowledge of low voltage components and system testing
- Familiarity with IEC and UL standards

Up to 20 travel days per year.
