The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of utility-scale solar projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout. This role provides leadership to field teams, manages schedules and budgets, coordinates with clients and subcontractors, and ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This is a traveling role, primarily supporting projects in the Sacramento area, with potential assignments at any active utility-scale solar job site nationwide - offering both fuel card and per diem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of utility-scale solar electrical projects, including substations, collection systems, and balance-of-plant electrical scope.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Oversee project teams including Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors to maintain alignment on scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Review contracts, change orders, and pay applications.
  • Drive safety compliance and enforce company safety standards across all job sites.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support preconstruction efforts, constructability reviews, and project turnover.
  • Provide regular project reporting to executive leadership and clients.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction project management experience, with at least 5 years in utility-scale solar or large electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background with electrical contracting scopes (medium voltage, substations, underground, and solar collection systems preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage multimillion-dollar projects in fast-paced, field-driven environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively as projects require.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools (Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar).
