Your Impact
As a Pre-Construction Estimator at Verogy, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial foundation of our solar projects. By managing project budgets during the design phase, you will directly contribute to the success of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and utility-scale solar projects.
Your expertise in cost estimation and collaboration with cross-functional teams will ensure that our projects are financially viable and aligned with Verogy’s mission to deliver high-quality renewable energy solutions. Your efforts will help drive the growth of clean energy infrastructure while maintaining competitive and accurate project costs.
This is a hybrid role based in West Hartford, CT, offering a mix of remote work and in-office collaboration. Candidates should expect to work in-office at least two days a week to engage with team members, attend meetings, and support collaborative projects. The on-site commitment for the first 3-6 months in the role may be higher due to job-specific training.
Your Role:
- Develop detailed and accurate budgets for the design stage of solar projects, focusing on C&I and utility-scale initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal design and engineering teams to evaluate layouts, materials, and site conditions.
- Obtain and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive cost estimates.
- Identify and address potential risks impacting project budgets or timelines.
- Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
- Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize costs without compromising quality.
- Stay informed on market trends in solar technology, material pricing, and labor rates.
- Account for local, state, and federal regulations in cost assessments.
- Maintain clear and organized records of all estimates and associated data.
What You’ll Bring:
- 3+ years of experience in estimating, budgeting, or financial modeling, preferably within the solar, renewable energy, or construction industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong knowledge of solar project development, including design, permitting, procurement, and construction processes.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore) and Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD and PVsyst is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Meticulous attention to detail in preparing budgets and assessing risks.

Compensation:
The annual salary range for this role is $65,000-125,000. The salary range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
