Asset Manager - Job Summary

This Asset Manager is a newly created opportunity within one of the fastest-growing renewable energy developer and IPPs in the US. This full-time opportunity will join an industry leading team that has a development, construction-stage, and operational pipeline of approximately 3 GW of solar and battery utility-scale power plants. The company prioritizes industry-leading best practices in transmission analytics, land analysis, and valuation, emphasizing flexibility and optimization to adapt to evolving market conditions and technologies. The Asset Manager is responsible for the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of renewable energy assets, with a focus on utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role ensures assets are optimized for maximum value through proactive management of commercial, technical, and regulatory aspects across the lifecycle. The Asset Manager opportunity will offer a competitive compensation package comprised of a base salary in the $130,000 - $150,000 range plus a 25% bonus target, and excellent benefits. This position will offer a remote flexible schedule or can be based out of the company’s headquarters based in Annapolis, MD and offer a hybrid flexible work schedule. Asset Manager. Job Description

  • The Asset Manager is responsible for the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of renewable energy assets, with a focus on utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Oversee a portfolio of solar PV and BESS assets to ensure optimal performance and profitability
  • Track and analyze asset performance against financial models, budgets, and KPIs
  • Identify and implement strategies to enhance revenue, reduce costs, and mitigate risks
  • Develop and manage operating budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for assigned assets
  • Review monthly/quarterly financial statements and variance analyses
  • Coordinate with accounting and finance teams on invoicing, cash management, and audits

  • Support Project Finance team with debt, tax-equity, joint-venture, and other financing requirements
  • Administer and enforce key project agreements, including PPAs, tolling agreements, O&M contracts, and warranties
  • Maintain relationships with off takers, utilities, and other stakeholders
  • Monitor market conditions and regulatory changes impacting asset value
  • Collaborate with O&M providers to ensure high asset availability and drive performance optimization
  • Review production reports, outage logs, and maintenance schedules
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for underperformance and equipment failures
  • Assist with selection and onboarding of PV and/or BESS O&M providers
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, permits, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide final document review and oversee internal task management system build-out
  • Prepare internal and external reports for investors, lenders, and senior management
  • Support ESG reporting and sustainability initiatives
  • Oversee NERC registration and coordination between internal / external partners
  • Identify operational, financial, and regulatory risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Manage insurance claims and coordinate with brokers and insurers as needed
  • Identify resource / tool gaps and develop internal workflows to support effective asset management capabilities


Asset Manager - Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 4–8+ years of experience in renewable energy asset management, project finance, or related field
  • Direct experience with solar PV and/or BESS assets strongly preferred
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Experience managing power purchase agreements, tolling agreements, O&M agreements, EPC agreements, equipment / system warranties, and financing agreements
  • Understanding of energy markets, grid operations, and storage optimization
  • Familiarity with SCADA data and performance monitoring tools
  • Excellent contract management and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial modeling tools
  • Familiarity with asset management platforms and data analytics tools
  • Working knowledge of energy market dynamics and systems (e.g., ERCOT, CAISO tools)
