Senior Tax Accountant – Renewable Energy Leader
Location – Annapolis, MD (3 days in office)
Summary
This Senior Tax Accountant position is a newly created opportunity within a publicly traded organization and renewable energy investment sector leader. This is an opportunity to join one of the first publicly traded companies dedicated to investments in climate change solutions within energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other sustainable infrastructure markets with over $14 billion in managed assets. The Senior Tax Accountant position will work within a growing accounting team based at the corporate headquarters (remote flexible 3 days a week) and be responsible for corporate and partnership income tax compliance and reporting. In addition to world class benefits, this position will offer a base salary range between $100,000 and $115,000 based on experience plus an annual bonus target of 15%, plus stock equity plan. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with 2 or 3 plus years of professional experience in public accounting to transition into one of the region’s most respected organizations dedicated to climate-positive investments.
Job Functions
- Serve as a key member of the accounting team, responsible for the preparation of tax workpapers and review of corporate and partnership tax returns.
- Support the company’s income tax life cycle, including planning, compliance, and advisory functions.
- Collaborate closely with both internal teams and external advisors to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient tax compliance and reporting, while also contributing to process improvements and special projects within the tax department.
- Preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision, inclusive of related tax disclosures
- Review of investee tax returns and taxable income allocations for the company’s portfolio of equity method investments
- Assist in preparing current year estimates of taxable income and long-term taxable income forecasts
- Assist in preparing recurrent tax-related projects, including our state nexus study and Section 382 analysis
- Conduct tax research and monitor changes in tax laws and regulations impacting the company
- Collaborate with various internal departments and external tax advisors to execute key responsibilities and ensure timely tax compliance and reporting.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA or active pursuit of CPA
- At least three years total relevant experience, including tenure at a national public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department of a publicly traded company
- Professional knowledge of US corporate and partnership tax compliance
- Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Renewable energy and/or financial services industry experience a plus, not required
- Familiarity with ASC 740 – Accounting for Income Taxes (US GAAP), including relevant tax disclosures required in SEC filings preferred.
- Ability to work in Annapolis, MD on a weekly hybrid basis 2-3 days a week in the office
