Role Description The Community Agent role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ibadan. Community Agents engage directly with local residents, businesses, and recyclers to promote Verdiq’s recycling programs and encourage participation. Day-to-day responsibilities include educating community members on proper waste sorting, onboarding new users to the digital platform, and supporting them in selling recyclables. The role involves sourcing for at least 250kg of white paper waste weekly, collecting and reporting data on community activities, providing feedback from the field, and collaborating with internal teams to improve outreach strategies. Community Agents also help organize local events, demonstrations, and training sessions that strengthen recycling culture and environmental awareness.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse community members, businesses, and recyclers.
  • Basic digital literacy and comfort using mobile apps or online platforms for data entry, reporting, and user support.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to coordinate outreach activities, follow up with participants, and meet performance targets.
  • Problem-solving and customer service skills to address questions, resolve issues, and provide clear guidance on recycling processes.
  • Interest in environmental sustainability, waste management, or climate action, with willingness to learn more about recycling practices.
  • Ability to work on-site in Ibadan, including conducting field visits, community meetings, and outdoor activities as needed.
  • Prior experience in community engagement, field work, sales, or grassroots advocacy is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Minimum of a secondary school certificate; additional education or training in environmental studies, social sciences, or related fields is a plus.
