Environmental Technician
Environmental Technician
WHO WE ARE
At Verdalia Bioenergy, we see organic waste as a resource, not a problem. Backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management, we develop, build and operate biomethane plants across Spain and Italy, turning agricultural and agri-food waste into renewable gas and biofertilizers. We combine long-term vision with the speed and ambition of a scale-up, and we're building the team that will lead Europe's green energy transition.
YOUR IMPACT
As Environmental Technician, you'll help bring our new biomethane projects in Spain to life, ensuring each one is environmentally sound and fully compliant from site selection through permitting to Ready-to-Build.
As part of our Project Development team, you'll combine fieldwork at our sites with data analysis and regulatory reporting, working closely with Permitting, Engineering and HSQE. It's a hands-on role at the heart of our growth: turning waste into renewable energy while protecting the environment and the communities around our projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Collect and analyse environmental data from our project sites (soil, water, air quality, odours, noise and biodiversity) to assess and anticipate impacts.
- Carry out field assessments during site selection and development to identify environmental risks and constraints early.
- Support environmental permit applications and the follow-up of their conditions, including integrated environmental authorisations and environmental impact assessments.
- Prepare environmental reports and documentation for authorities and for project decisions.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives and best practices across our project portfolio.
- Work hand in hand with Permitting, Engineering and HSQE teams, and with external consultants and laboratories.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in environmental compliance or field assessments.
- Experience with environmental permitting in renewable energy or industrial projects.
- Solid knowledge of environmental data analysis and regulatory reporting.
- Good knowledge of Spanish environmental regulations.
- Fluent Spanish and a good command of English.
- Driving licence and availability to travel to our sites across Spain.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in renewable energy or bioenergy projects (biogas, biomethane, waste treatment).
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
- GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) or environmental monitoring software.
WHY JOIN US
- Play a direct role in shaping our pipeline of Spanish biomethane projects, from the first site visit to Ready-to-Build.
- Combine fieldwork and analysis in a fast-growing Project Development team.
- Be part of a company turning waste into renewable energy and leading Europe's energy transition.
- Permanent contract · Hybrid model (1 day remote per week) · Madrid, with regular travel to sites across Spain
