Vacancy Overview:

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and when completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

Job Purpose / Overview:

The Scheduler will report to the Programme Scheduler and support the PMO functionality, in providing Schedule and Planning Management expertise to the Sizewell C PMO & Programme teams.

This is a long-term contract role, based in our office in Suffolk with hybrid working available.

The work of the Schedule team is to:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Schedule Management function including Policy, Strategy, plan and processes
  • Develop, manage, and maintain the Integrated Work Schedule for the delivery of the Sizewell C Project
  • Ensure adherence to the project’s scheduling standards
  • Track delivery performance and identify areas of concern to the Delivery Teams
  • Support the Delivery Teams to produce monthly reports by providing intelligent information and analysis

Principal Accountabilities:

The implementation of the SZC Schedule Management Policy, Strategy and Plan, communicating the use of Schedule Management Processes and Procedures, including promoting the development of good schedule management practices within the Delivery Teams. They will:

  • Assist the Schedule Lead to develop and support a suitable Schedule function within the PMO and Project Delivery Organisation.
  • Help to ensure that Suppliers and Internal Departments comply with SZC processes and procedures.
  • Support All Functional Heads in maintaining the SZC approach to schedule management.
  • Support the SZC in various forums with other departments / Projects / Programmes parliamentary Goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the development and management of a Risk Model.
  • Organise and facilitate tactical workshops to develop areas of the schedule.

The postholder will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating and facilitating of Schedule workshops and reviews with Project Stakeholders,
  • Liaising with Project Managers develop, manage, and maintain the Integrated Schedule.
  • Producing periodic schedule reports to inform Senior Leadership,
  • Ensuring suitable management and maintenance of Supply Chain schedules is being applied.
  • Escalating schedule issues and concerns that may require senior level management or key stakeholder engagement for resolution or mitigation.
  • Actively encouraging and embedding a Schedule Management culture by providing guidance to improve competency across the Project.
  • Collaborating with the other Project Controls functions to ensure alignment is maintained.
  • Maintaining alignment of all Project Stakeholders with best practice guidelines and recommend continuous process improvements as and when required.


Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of project planning principles and techniques with experience of major infrastructure projects, ideally within a nuclear construction environment
  • Ability to time manage self and organize work priorities
  • Ability to create a schedule from first principles
  • Expert knowledge of Primavera P6
  • Ability to use MS Project and Excel to a high level
  • Mentoring &/or Coaching experience
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including influencing
  • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative, with the capability to take responsibility for problems within their own capability and responsibility
  • Results focused with the ability to meet commitments and deadlines
  • Logical thinking, highly organised with attention to detail, high level of analytical and numerate skills

Desirable skill:

  • Demonstrable use of numerical and verbal communication skills within a business environment. Data analysis.
  • Membership of one or more Schedule or Project Management organisation e.g. APM, PMI, or a suitable equivalent
