Senior Firmware Engineer
About Vammo
Vammo is building an accessible, resilient, and scalable clean energy network for emerging megacities, starting in Latin America. By combining electric motorcycle subscriptions with a rapidly expanding battery swap infrastructure, we make clean transportation affordable and reliable for the millions who keep cities moving.
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in São Paulo, Vammo has raised $100M from top-tier investors across the globe. Our founders and team represent an incredibly diverse and international group that is built of former executives coming from Tesla, Uber, Rappi, iFood, Loggi, Niu, Jump and others. We are all deeply motivated by the mission to decarbonize Latin America while simultaneously reducing costs for one of the region’s most vulnerable populations.
The next wave of mobility innovation will come not from San Francisco, but from São Paulo. Our operations will soon expand from Sao Paulo to cities across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia, proving that real climate impact and transformative business models can be built first where the need is greatest.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team. This role is key to developing, scaling, and supporting the firmware that powers Vammo’s hardware ecosystem, including IoT devices and other electronics modules for vehicles, and for battery swap framework.
What you’ll do
- Own firmware development for embedded platforms (ESP32, Linux-based SOMs).
- Design, implement, and optimize drivers, communication stacks (CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, Modbus), and safety-critical control logic.
- Lead architecture discussions and code reviews, setting best practices and quality standards across the firmware team.
- Collaborate closely with electronics, mechanical, and cloud engineering teams to deliver end-to-end system functionality.
- Support validation and field operations with debugging, logs analysis, and OTA release processes.
- Balance short-term product delivery with long-term technical roadmap and maintainability.
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years in embedded systems development, ideally in automotive, mobility, or other mission-critical hardware.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python
- Solid experience with RTOS development and/or embedded Linux environments (Buildroot/Yocto buildsystems)
- Proven ability to debug complex firmware/electronics integration issues and prototypes bring-up.
- Nice to have: Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (LTE, BLE, WiFi) and cloud/IoT integration (MQTT and protobuff), Linux Network layers knowledged
- Team player mindset with mentoring ability and ownership attitude.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. Equivalent hands-on experience in embedded systems may also be considered.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where firmware is critical to product launch. Startup experience is a plus.
What You’ll Get
- A front-row seat at one of Latin America’s most ambitious hardware and climate tech startups, backed by world-class investors.
- A mission-driven environment where every decision contributes to decarbonizing mobility and empowering low-income workers.
- Freedom to take on as much responsibility as you can handle — and grow faster than anywhere else.
- A collaborative, fast-paced, and purpose-driven team that loves to build real things in the real world.
