The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Maintenance (Scheduler) to join our Coleman Mine team in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a permanent on-site position. The work schedule is Monday to Friday.
The Maintenance Supervisor (Scheduler) is responsible for managing maintenance processes to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient operations within established standards. This role focuses on planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and collective agreements. The incumbent drives continuous improvement in crew performance through effective work management techniques and may provide supervisory relief when required. Additionally, the position involves identifying and addressing variances while aligning work with VPS and the Asset Management Framework.

The Maintenance Supervisor (Scheduler) is responsible for managing maintenance processes to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient operations within established standards. This role focuses on planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, company policies, and collective agreements. The incumbent drives continuous improvement in crew performance through effective work management techniques and may provide supervisory relief when required. Additionally, the position involves identifying and addressing variances while aligning work with VPS and the Asset Management Framework.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Manage maintenance systems to ensure Zero Harm, meet safety, quality, and production targets, and comply with cost and capital expenditure goals.
- Plan and schedule maintenance work in alignment with the Asset Management Framework and VPS principles, ensuring timely execution of approved work orders.
- Review and prioritize work orders daily, incorporate crew input, and escalate critical issues that may impact completion by the Required By Date.
- Develop and maintain standardized planning templates and packages to improve efficiency and minimize operational disruptions.
- Provide supervisory relief when required, lead crews in safety and professionalism, and ensure adherence to maintenance plans, policies, and collective agreements.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other departments to achieve maintenance objectives, manage inventories, budgets, and overtime within guidelines.
- Ensure accurate documentation of work orders, reports, and compliance with safety plans; maintain personnel qualifications and schedule training as needed.
- Coach and counsel employees on safety and performance standards, promote HomeSafe behaviors, and take corrective actions to address noncompliance.
Education:
- Grade 12 completed or GED equivalency with equivalent experience is required.
- College diploma or university degree in a related industrial field or a university degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Valid industrial trade certificate for the province of Ontario (Millwright Red Seal 433A or Maintenance Electrician Red Seal 442A or 309A).
- Generic Supervisor Common Core (770141), First Line Underground Mine Supervisor Common Core (770121), or Common Core for First Line Production Supervisor Underground Hard Rock Mining (770120) is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience as a Planner/ Scheduler.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products, SAP, and Prometheus add-on.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Millwright or Electrician trade is required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supervising and leading teams with best work practices.
- Experience in a mining plant or heavy industry is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, SAP, and Prometheus add-on.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
- Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
