Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Department: Research and Development

Reports To: R&D Program Manager

Location: Brighton, CO (Onsite)

 

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee design and build projects for Direct Air Carbon Capture (DAC). This role will be responsible for managing design and build projects on behalf of the Program Management office, in a matrixed organization. The Construction Project Manager will ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence while coordinating with research, engineering, procurement, and commissioning teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial or energy-related construction projects or pilot plants for processing industries. They will also possess exceptional leadership skills and a passion for advancing climate technology.

 

Objectives & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

 

Project Planning & Execution

    • Lead and manage design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities for the DAC pilot plant.
    • Develop and maintain detailed schedules, resource plans, and progress tracking.
    • Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
    • Identify subcontractors and oversee their performance, ensuring compliance with project specifications, scheduling and safety standards.

 

Construction Site Management

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-site build activities.
    • Collaborate with Operations and Research groups to ensure safety protocols are followed and maintain a zero-incident work environment.
    • During construction, conduct daily site inspections and resolve field issues promptly.
    • Manage site logistics, including equipment receiving and staging, material handling, and workforce allocation.
    • Coordinate with maintenance and operations to ensure effective use of site equipment and consumables, and to plan spares and maintenance program.

 

Quality & Compliance

    • Ensure projects meet design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement quality control procedures and conduct inspections throughout the build phase of projects.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, change orders, and progress reports.

 

Stakeholder Communication

    • Provide regular updates to project leadership on schedule, budget, and risk status.
    • Facilitate coordination between contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
    • Support commissioning and handover activities upon project completion.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 5+ years in industrial or energy-related construction project management; experience with pilot or first-of-a-kind facilities preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
  • Understanding of commissioning and start-up processes for industrial plants.
  • Experience interpreting process, electrical, and mechanical engineering drawings

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with carbon capture, renewable energy, or chemical process facilities.
  • Familiarity with modular construction and skid-mounted systems.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience with startup companies.

 

Comp- $140,000 - $160,000
