Role Description The Business Development Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai. This position is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities in the solar energy sector, building and maintaining relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Daily activities include conducting market research, developing sales strategies, preparing proposals, leading negotiations, and managing the end-to-end sales cycle. The role involves collaborating with internal teams to align offerings with customer needs, tracking performance against targets, and providing regular reports and insights to leadership. The Business Development Manager will also represent UVMAR at industry events and support strategic initiatives that drive growth and market expansion.
Qualifications
  • Strong business development, sales, and account management skills, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Experience in market research, opportunity analysis, and strategic planning within energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to build long-term client and partner relationships.
  • Solid organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, including pipeline management and use of CRM or similar tools.
  • Understanding of renewable energy markets, particularly solar, and the economic and regulatory factors affecting the sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Ability to work on-site in Chennai, travel as required, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, resilience, and a commitment to ethical, inclusive, and sustainable business practices.
