USGBC-CA Corporate Sustainability Coordinator

This position supports the U.S. Green Building Council California (USGBC-CA’s) efforts in expanding our reach to corporations, contractors and incubating new technologies. As our Corporate Sustainability Coordinator, you will help to foster relationships, create pathways, lift up new voices and build valuable relationships with partners in our communities. This role will support our California Alliance of Sustainability Executives (CASE), Net Zero Accelerator (NZA) and Contractor’s Commitment programs. This position is slated to begin in February 2025 and will be an integral part of our USGBC-CA team, reporting to our Senior Sustainability Program Manager.

They are eager to network with businesses, collaborate internally, develop the relationships needed to promote our programs, and support our mission for a healthier environment for all.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Program coordination and project management:

  • Attend meetings, conferences, and networking events, and take excellent notes, form relationships with key businesses and individuals, and provide thorough follow up to maintain program momentum.
  • Track contract deliverables for all activities, collecting data needed for reporting, presentations, and partner updates.
  • Utilize a CRM and other tools to manage partner outreach, program pipelines, and ensure that key stakeholder touchpoints are documented to support consistent engagement.
  • Implement outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives to support projects and programs and increase public awareness and understanding of green building practices.
  • Assist with the planning, producing, and execution of both in person and virtual events related CASE, NZA, and other key initiatives.
  • Perform research and collect data for the development of a variety of presentations, best practice guides, case studies, and other documents for a variety of audiences.
  • Perform survey and data analysis as required, and report on KPIs to inform organizational impact tracking.
  • Support the development of digital tools and resources, as needed.
  • Coordinate the activities of interns and/or volunteers, and collaborate across departments. to ensure that program delivery aligns with broader organizational goals.
  • Provide support and perform project management tasks for additional programmatic initiatives as needed, depending on organizational priorities.

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • 3-5 years professional experience, non-profit or startup preferred.
  • Familiarity with environmental sustainability concepts: resilience and climate adaptation, water conservation, building decarbonization, embodied carbon, renewable energy technologies, energy management systems, or some combination thereof.
  • Experience with representing an organization at external events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Google Workspace, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, CANVA, or similar programs required; experience with project or task management platforms such as Monday.com or Notion preferred, but not required. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of principles and best practices of project management.
  • Experience supporting project tasks, scheduling meetings, and maintaining a professional demeanor in stakeholder meetings.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to create presentations and documents with a high degree of polish.
  • Possesses a collaborative spirit, with the ability to contribute to annual strategic planning, work closely with other departments across the organization and work creatively toward goals. 
  • Desire to learn, adapt, and explore new skills, technology, and workflow processes.
  • Capability for self-directed learning with little need for constant oversight and a willingness to take on multiple projects with similar needs or requirements.
  • Flexibility to exist in a fast-paced, generative professional environment with multiple assignments.
  • Ability to flex schedule to support programmatic activities, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
 

TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, remote or hybrid position. Location: anywhere within California, some travel to Los Angeles. Annual salary range is $65,000-$75,000.
