We are now looking for a Graduate, Product Stewardship to join the UPM Specialty Papers Products & Technology team and contribute to the work we do in sustainability and product stewardship. Home location of the position will be in Jämsä, Finland.

What You Will Do

During your time in the graduate program, you will embark on an exciting program which offers you the opportunity to learn more about the different facets of product stewardship, product safety and sustainability at Specialty Papers and UPM. Through three distinct program phases, one of which is abroad, you will also gain insights into other areas of UPM’s organization. Overall, our Graduate Program aims to strengthen your professional and personal competencies. In addition, you will have the chance to develop your business network.

Your Main Duties Will Be

  • Learn about the Specialty Papers approach to product stewardship, focusing on product safety and sustainability, especially in packaging papers and food end uses
  • Understand our paper production processes and their role in product safety
  • Support our team in handling customer queries related to product safety and sustainability topics
  • Evaluate our current ways of working with customer queries and proposing best practices and developments, including finding smarter uses of technology and AI
  • Follow and report on trends and developments in the area of sustainability and product stewardship
  • Support with ensuring organizational readiness for adopting relevant upcoming EU regulation, including participating in the implementation of the PPWR packaging legislation

Who You Are

  • You have a relevant degree in for example process technology, chemistry, product safety, packaging or paper technology or environmental technology
  • You are interested in the opportunities and challenges sustainability regulation can present for a company, and translating those into practical actions
  • You are a fluent user of systems and tools to support day-to-day work, and are enthusiastic about developing ways of working
  • You communicate comfortably with people at different levels of the organization, as well as customers
  • You are able to work both in Finnish and English
