We are now looking for an Advanced Analytics Specialist to join our Decision Support and Advanced Analytics team in UPM Fibres. This position is primarily located in Helsinki, Finland. Other UPM locations can be considered.

What You Will Do
In this role, you will develop analytics, optimization, and AI-enabled decision-support solutions to address business challenges across UPM Fibres. You will collaborate with experts and decision-makers to turn complex business questions into practical analytical solutions.
Your Main Tasks Are
- Identify and shape analytics opportunities together with experts and decision-makers in UPM Fibres’ businesses
- Contribute to solving business challenges in areas such as production planning, logistics, supply chains, commercial operations, and strategy
- Take ownership of analytics workstreams or selected project responsibilities as part of collaborative project teams
- Drive analytics work from problem definition and methodology selection to analysis, modelling, conclusions, and implementation support
- Build and apply analytical models, such as optimization models, simulations, forecasting models, statistical models, and machine learning methods
- Participate in projects where generative AI, large language models, or AI agents are used to improve workflows, automate knowledge work, or support decision-making
- Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs, clarify assumptions, validate results, and turn analysis into practical recommendations
- Support the team’s competence development in areas such as optimization, data science, AI tools, and modern analytics practices
- You have a university degree, preferably M.Sc. or Ph.D., in mathematics, economics, computer science, engineering, operations research, statistics, or a related field
- You are fluent in English
- You have at least 2 years of experience in analytics, data science, optimization, operations research, or decision-support work
- You have practical programming experience in Python
- You have applied analytical methods to real-world business challenges, such as optimization, simulation, forecasting, statistical modelling or machine learning
- You have practical experience using generative AI or large language models in analytical, programming, or knowledge-work tasks; experience developing AI-assisted tools, agent workflows, or automation solutions is considered an advantage
- You communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify business needs, communicate findings, and refine solutions based on feedback
- You take ownership of your contributions within projects while collaborating closely with colleagues, stakeholders, and subject-matter experts
- Experience in industrial, logistics, supply chain, production, forestry, pulp, timber, energy, or other asset-intensive business environments is considered an advantage
