Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Application Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering to join our team. This role focuses on developing strategies for building automation systems that optimize HVAC operations, applying advanced engineering expertise to enhance control systems, support sales initiatives, and lead a small engineering team in delivering cutting-edge solutions for high-profile clients, including national datacenter projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sales assistance by reviewing internal sales opportunities and contributing technical insights to strengthen proposals.
- Serve as the engineering lead for the development team, managing a team of two application engineers and guiding the application of mechanical engineering principles to complex system designs for building automation and HVAC controls.
- Act as a key resource for the development team to review, standardize, and implement system sequences of operation.
- Support the development team in creating and refining custom sequences of operation tailored to specific project needs.
- Conduct energy audits for customer sites to identify efficiency improvements and application opportunities in HVAC and building systems.
- Collaborate with the development team to develop custom Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD) and Fault Tolerant Testing (FTT) scripts using Kode Labs analytics.
- Perform QA/QC oversight for national datacenter projects, representing customer interests with senior-level expertise.
- Lead development team processes, including project budgets and development budgets, under team oversight to ensure efficient and effective resource application.
You will report directly to David Jonas, Owner Operator.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in application engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems, building automation, or HVAC controls.
- Proven leadership experience managing small engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of system sequences of operation, energy audits, and fault detection/diagnostics.
- Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Kode Labs) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Current residence in Colorado.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical engineering or building automation systems.

Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive Salary: $104,000 - $140,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- 80 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year to start.
