Journeyman Electrician – Solar Energy
Unity Solar Group | Full-Time | $60,000–$70,000/year + Benefits
Location: Illinois

Unity Solar Group is committed to delivering clean, affordable energy to Illinois communities. As an approved ILSFA / IL Shines vendor and rapidly growing residential solar installer, we are looking for a dedicated Journeyman Electrician to support our solar installations and electrical upgrade projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical components for residential solar PV systems.
     

  • Perform service panel upgrades, meter relocations, and main service disconnect installations.
     

  • Ensure all installations are compliant with NEC, local AHJ codes, and utility requirements.
     

  • Supervise apprentices or solar installers as needed.
     

  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and utilities during inspections and interconnections.
     

  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and job status.
     

 

Qualifications:

  • Active Journeyman Electrician License in Illinois (required).
     

  • Minimum 4 years of residential or commercial electrical experience.
     

  • Prior experience with solar PV installations preferred, but not required.
     

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
     

  • Must be comfortable working on rooftops and in crawl spaces or attics.
     

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and electrical schematics.
