Job Summary
The Senior Executive / Assistant Manager / Manager, Member Acquisition plays a key role in driving the growth and engagement of the UNGCMBC membership base. This role combines relationship management with business development, requiring the successful candidate to identify, engage, and convert prospective organisations into members by effectively communicating the value of UNGCMBC's initiatives and programmes.
The role also focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with existing member organisations, ensuring they actively participate in UNGCMBC initiatives and derive meaningful value from their commitment to the UN Global Compact principles. Depending on the appointed level, the successful candidate will either lead or support membership acquisition, engagement strategies, stakeholder management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect, and engage potential member organisations through proactive outreach and networking activities.
- Lead or support membership acquisition efforts by developing and delivering compelling pitches, presentations, and proposals that communicate the value of UNGCMBC membership, initiatives, and services.
- Drive or support membership growth by engaging prospective organisations and securing commitment from key decision-makers, commensurate with the appointed level.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote UNGCMBC and expand membership opportunities.
- Serve as a key point of contact for member organisations by providing timely support, responding to enquiries, and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with member representatives across diverse industries to encourage continued engagement and member satisfaction.
- Develop, implement, or support initiatives that strengthen member engagement and encourage active participation in UNGCMBC programmes and activities.
- Gather, analyse, and communicate member feedback to continuously improve member engagement strategies, programmes, and services.
- Maintain accurate membership records within the CRM system and monitor key membership metrics, including acquisition, retention, engagement, and renewal.
- Prepare periodic reports and insights on membership performance to support planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement. Managerial-level appointments may be expected to provide strategic recommendations based on these insights.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure a seamless member experience and successful delivery of programmes and initiatives.
Requirements
- Senior Executive: 2–3 years of relevant experience with the ability to independently manage assigned member accounts, support membership acquisition activities, and contribute to engagement initiatives.
- Assistant Manager: 3–5 years of relevant experience with proven ability to drive membership growth, manage stakeholder relationships, and contribute to planning and executing engagement strategies.
- Manager: 5+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated success in business development, strategic stakeholder engagement, leading initiatives, achieving growth targets, and mentoring or guiding junior team members.
- Proven experience in pitching, presenting, and promoting services, memberships, programmes, or initiatives to organisations, with the ability to influence stakeholders and secure buy-in.
- Demonstrated track record in achieving growth targets, client acquisition, membership expansion, or business development is an advantage.
- Understanding of corporate sustainability, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and familiarity with the UN Global Compact principles or related sustainability frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and build relationships with stakeholders from diverse sectors.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM systems.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin is an advantage.
- For non-Malaysian candidates, a valid visa to work in Malaysia is required.
