The Engineering Leader is responsible for driving the performance, productivity, and strategic direction of the engineering team in São Paulo, ensuring high-quality execution across Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) activities. This role combines strong people leadership, project management, and business acumen to optimize operations, improve certification timelines, and deliver impactful results. The position plays a critical role in connecting technical expertise with business outcomes, fostering a high-performance culture, and implementing continuous improvements that enhance customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing engineering team, driving accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
- Coach and mentor team members through regular feedback, career development, and performance management
- Foster a strong, collaborative, and psychologically safe team environment
- Drive effective resource allocation based on project scope, technical requirements, and business priorities
- Oversee project execution to ensure timelines, quality standards, and customer expectations are met
- Improve certification lead times and operational efficiency through structured project management practices
- Monitor and drive team performance aligned with financial targets (revenue, productivity, profitability)
- Translate engineering activities into business value, ensuring strong alignment with organizational goals
- Support pipeline visibility and collaborate with Sales to improve conversion and customer outcomes
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase team productivity and scalability
- Leverage tools, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., Lean, automation) to optimize workflows
- Lead initiatives that enhance operational excellence and quality
- Ensure adherence to applicable standards, regulations, and internal policies (e.g., ISO/IEC 17065)
- Own and coordinate updates related to regulatory and normative requirements (e.g., INMETRO)
- Provide technical guidance and engineering judgment to resolve complex issues and customer challenges
- Build strong relationships with customers, understanding needs and proactively delivering solutions
- Support customer discussions involving technical scope, timelines, and requirements
- Act as a key interface between engineering, sales, and other cross-functional teams
- Contribute to and execute strategic initiatives, transformation efforts, and cultural changes
- Promote a high-performance, customer-focused, and results-driven mindset
- Strengthen cross-functional and global collaboration within the organization
- Support project handlers in defining and executing test programs
- Act as escalation point for technical issues, customer complaints, and complex requests
- Lead by example, promoting company values, ethics, and compliance standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required) - Electrical Engineering preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience leading technical/engineering teams Experience in Testing, Inspection, Certification (TIC) or similar regulated environments is highly preferred
- Leadership & People Management
- Proven ability to lead, engage, and develop technical teams
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to manage diverse personalities and performance levels
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize, plan, and execute effectively
- Experience managing multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of financial and operational drivers (productivity, revenue, efficiency)
- Ability to connect technical work with business outcomes
- Technical & Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of engineering processes and certification lifecycle
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17065 or similar standards is a strong advantage
- Continuous Improvement: Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies preferred
- Ability to implement tools and systems to increase efficiency
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and influence stakeholders
- Experience working in cross-functional and matrix environments
- Strong collaboration skills in multicultural environments
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
