It specializes in researching therapeutic solutions for patients suffering from severe diseases, treated by specialists, particularly in the fields of the central nervous system (including epilepsy) and inflammation (including allergies).

Your mission will be to:
- Analyze the environmental impact of care pathways across different therapeutic areas (e.g., epilepsy)
- Conduct literature reviews on the interactions between climate change, pollution, and targeted diseases, within a One Health framework
- Apply industry standards and methodologies (notably from the Sustainable Healthcare Coalition – SHC) to real-life cases
- Identify the main contributors to the environmental footprint of patient care pathways (hospitalizations, treatments, diagnostics, etc.)
- Expand analyses to multiple diseases and contribute to cross-functional projects
- Support the development of narratives for payers and health technology assessment bodies, highlighting environmental benefits
- Contribute to initiatives aimed at making clinical trials more sustainable
- Support European programs (e.g., PHARMECO) focused on measuring and reducing the environmental impact of medicines
- Present analyses and recommendations to internal teams (medical affairs, market access, sustainability, product teams)
- Develop clear, robust, and reproducible analytical methodologies
- Create training materials and support the dissemination of best practices
- Build stakeholder and process maps within the “Patient Evidence” unit
- Propose ways to integrate environmental approaches into existing UCB processes
- Define and monitor environmental performance indicators (KPIs)
- Design monitoring tools (e.g., dashboards) to track progress over time
- Contribute to the development of a structured and operational approach supporting UCB’s environmental and market access strategy
Your Profile:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent engineering degree) in a scientific field: public health, environmental sciences, life sciences, or similar
- A dual background in environment & health is highly valued (e.g., environmental engineering with an interest in public health, or vice versa)
- Professional proficiency in English is required (working language, scientific literature, international interactions)
- Proficiency in French is a plus, but not mandatory
- Strong scientific rigor and analytical skills (literature review, data processing and interpretation)
- Strong synthesis skills and ability to structure complex information
- Autonomous, curious, and proactive mindset
- Good command of Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to communicate and simplify technical topics for non-expert audiences
- Strong interest in sustainability and environmental transition challenges within the healthcare sector
- Previous experience (internship or apprenticeship) in life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental epidemiology, or market access is a plus, but not required
Please note that the strict eligibility conditions for this program are as follows:
- Be between 18 and 28 years old;
- Hold the nationality of a member country of the European Economic Area;
- Have not worked or lived in the country where the mission will take place;
- Be available to dedicate yourself to the mission full-time;
- If you have French nationality or dual nationality, be in compliance with the national service obligations of France (Numéro Identifiant Défense);
- Have a clean criminal record.
