Role Description

This is a contract-based remote role for a Power Generation System Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting power generation systems, providing technical support to clients, and analyzing system performance to ensure optimal operation. The role also involves developing solutions for complex technical issues and collaborating with teams to implement innovative strategies for sustainable energy systems. The individual will communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, documenting findings and providing recommendations based on detailed analysis.


As a member of the team, the individual will contribute to the development of preliminary and final asset architecture for Renewable Energy (RE) Hybrid Mini Grids at Triple E’s community power plant sites, supporting engineering simulations and optimization of generation architectures for community projects. They will collaborate with other groups to develop and maintain databases for engineering and power generation assets, and actively participate in regular meetings to monitor project progress, share updates, address challenges, and propose solutions. In addition, they will take part in multidisciplinary engineering efforts to develop and finalize the project Bill of Materials (BOM) and Bill of Quantities (BOQ), with particular focus on power generation assets. The role also involves supporting the team in consumer tariff development, financial feasibility analyses, procurement-related technical activities, and construction supervision.



Qualifications

  • Strong Analytical Skills to evaluate power generation system performance and identify areas for improvement.

Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with renewable energy analytical tools such as HOMER (or equivalent simulation software), Odyssey, RetScreen, and PVsyst. Demonstrated expertise in using at least one RE simulation tool—particularly HOMER—for developing renewable energy mini-grids is essential.

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or related fields.

  • Experience in renewable energy systems or sustainable power generation is highly desirable.
  • Certifications in energy systems, power engineering, or technical support are considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting and providing Technical Support for resolving system malfunctions or inefficiencies

  • Excellent Communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to clients, teams, and stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to use spreadsheet models for financial and economic project analysis.
  • Solid understanding of the REA and NEP frameworks in Nigeria, as well as awareness of international best practices.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational abilities.
  • A proactive self-starter with a strategic mindset and strong attention to detail.
