Now Hiring: Mechanical Design Engineer (Direct Hire) — Westminster, MD

Salary: $80,000 – $85,000

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our client's growing team in Westminster, MD. This is a direct-hire opportunity offering competitive compensation and the chance to work on cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative, innovative environment.

Position Summary:

The Design Engineer will lead and support the full product development lifecycle for advanced battery technologies — from design and prototyping through validation, pilot production, and process development. You’ll work closely with a cross-functional engineering team to deliver high-performance solutions for demanding applications, particularly in defense and aerospace sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all development phases including concept design, prototyping, validation, and pilot-scale production.

  • Prepare and present both internal and customer-facing design reviews.

  • Plan, develop, and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) for battery fabrication and testing.

  • Collaborate with team members to determine battery design parameters and mechanical characteristics.

  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and processes for pilot-scale manufacturing.

  • Coordinate and execute product development trials, then analyze and present results with actionable recommendations.

  • Draft engineering documentation including assembly instructions and process specifications.

  • Perform root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for design and process issues.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related science/engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; capable of thriving in a collaborative environment.

  • Self-starter with strong hands-on skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Preferred experience (not required):

    • Defense or aerospace industry background.

    • Knowledge of battery design, energy storage systems, or electrochemistry.
