Lead Advisor- Sustainable Dairy
Background And Context
A client of TRANSEARCH, having a global presence and dedicated to creating transformational solutions to the most serious environmental problems is seeking a senior leader to lead their Sustainable Dairy team in India.
The Position
The Lead Advisor, Sustainable Dairy - India is a critical leadership role in the development, execution, and communication of their livestock methane and climate smart dairy portfolio and projects. This position will be working with many teams within their India and global, and managing internal and external partners, liaising with government and policy formulators, corporates to build relationships and raising funds for the overall portfolio. The role requires understanding of science as well as political economy of India.
Key Job Responsibilities
People & Nature
- Strengthening livestock methane strategy and climate smart dairy priorities in India, including adaptation of global strategies to India and streamlining India specific implementation plans.
- Conduct outreach and engagement with national and state level policymakers, and build partnerships with other government institutions/bodies, NGOs, civil society organizations, private companies, and educational universities on sustainable agriculture in India.
- Build / foster coalitions and function as ambassador for the livestock methane & climate smart dairy priorities.
- Build and manage a high performing team of individuals and partners to advance the cause of livestock methane & climate smart dairy’s portfolio areas in India.
- Facilitate, with partners, development, and deployment of assessment tools for monitoring and impact evaluations – including third party evaluations, as necessary.
- Create a marketing and communication strategy for livestock methane & climate smart dairy initiatives, create and/or assist with communications material on the on-going projects, capturing the progress and impact of these initiatives for external use, sharing with donors and for their internal teams.
- Review regular, periodic progress reports submitted to the organization across on-going projects.
- Assist in ongoing fundraising efforts under the livestock methane & climate smart dairy portfolio and projects.
- Prepare and review periodic progress reports for funders and the global teams’ partnerships within the sub-sectors. Participates in advancing their goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with their values.
- Coordinating with the Head Office on administrative requirements and contracts with partner organizations on on-going or new projects/programs.
Livestock Methane & Climate Smart Dairy
- Manage their on-ground programs portfolio engagement with partner(s) under the livestock methane & climate smart dairy initiative by coordinating across stakeholders, building work plans, resource allocations and timelines.
- Manage their on-ground program portfolio and engagement with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and other partners -by coordinating across stakeholders, building work plans, resource allocations and timelines.
- Monitoring the progress of these initiatives as per key milestones and timelines defined in the work plan.
- Review national and state policies and identify policy levels inputs to scale up climate smart agriculture.
- Manage and promote animal feed management initiatives and nutrition management.
- Design pilot program on livestock productivity optimization using optimized feed and nutrition science.
- Conduct outreach and engagement with national and state level policymakers in India, and build partnerships with these and other government institutions/bodies, educational universities, corporates, NGOs and Dairy Boards.
- Assisting partner organizations in building assessment tools and impact evaluations and by facilitating third-party evaluations for deployment of the livestock work.
- Coordinate with the global teams on the communications and materials required around the agreement and partnership with NDDB and relevant Ministries.
- Prepare and review the annual reports on the project progress for funders and donors and the global office.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Must Haves
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the corporate or non-profit sector, including demonstrated ability to manage complex projects.
- Master's degree in business, environment, or other relevant fields.
- Experience and ability to engage with senior government officials on discussions on policy and programs.
- Experience managing teams.
- Knowledge of the Indian Rural Sector.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate with a global team across multiple time zones, including joining calls beyond normal business hours.
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
- Diligence and personal organization skills.
- An ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment.
- Proficiency in the use of relevant contemporary technologies.
- Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
