Where Is The Work

Position Summary

Mechanical and Project Engineer with capabilities to implement and communicate an operational plan for completing a project, monitor progress and performance against the project plan, resolve operational problems, minimize delays, identify, develop and gather necessary resources to complete the project. Design mechanical systems, develop schedules, budgets and forecasts, select materials, equipment, project staff and contractors. Estimate costs, resources and time required to complete. Monitor activities, allocate resources and assign tasks to ensure targets are met. Conduct project meetings and prepare targets in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP). Confirm project meets or exceeds project targets. Develop, implement and communicate strategy for project within business category and overall category equipment renewal image. Aid in development of overall business category equipment renewal strategy.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Oversee a variety of project activities, operations and project budgets.
  • Design, develop and implement project/business strategies through assigned department.
  • Oversee project team involvement/activities throughout the duration of the planned schedule (involvement ranging from mentoring early career engineers and field work with maintenance technicians).
  • Communicate project status, business strategy and business goals with audiences of production, maintenance, management and upper management.
  • Coordinate projects during concept, design and construction for renovations or line relocation/removal.
  • Equipment planning and asset renewal for both investment and expense budgets.
  • Technical support of equipment repair and evaluation for process/output improvement.
  • Support day-to-day operation of equipment by means of training operators and writing work instructions for the production team.
  • Audit machine safety and implement safety improvements.

Qualifications/Key Competencies

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university/college preferred; a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with a range of disciplines (Mechanical and Industrial Engineering).
  • Ability to collect data and predict/justify the End of Life (EOL) on critical equipment within assigned department
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management for mechanical principles related to a manufacturing facility.
  • Understanding of application equipment from concept through production output as well as troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience with powder paint and surrounding processes preferred.
  • Experience with robotics preferred.
