Our Thermo King team is hiring an Embedded Control Systems Architect to lead the roadmap and design of our next‑generation embedded controls platform. This includes defining a scalable, integrated hardware and software architecture powering global transport refrigeration systems. You’ll influence technology direction across multiple product lines, collaborate cross‑functionally with product management and engineering teams, and lead a team of technical architects. Success in this role requires deep expertise in embedded systems, strong systems‑level thinking, and leadership experience in domains such as HVAC‑R, automotive, industrial equipment, or off‑highway systems.


Where Is The Work

From Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. On Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires. Ability to travel up to 10% (including internationally) is required.


How you’ll make an impact

  • Develop and sustain the Embedded Controls Platform Roadmap, partnering with Product Management, Engineering, Procurement, and Digital Solutions teams
  • Architect an integrated embedded hardware + software platform used across global product lines
  • Address system‑level considerations including functional safety, cybersecurity, connectivity, reuse, modularity, and scalability
  • Drive cross‑regional alignment and negotiate modular solutions supporting varying customer and market needs
  • Lead and mentor a team of software and hardware architects; encourage innovation and emerging technology adoption
  • Present the architectural vision and lead feature prioritization through Agile ceremonies
  • Evaluate and recommend technology stacks, third‑party solutions, and development tools
  • Partner with other Trane Technologies architects to align standards, enhance reuse, and share best practices
  • Stay current on embedded systems technologies, real‑time controls, microcontrollers, and modern development practices


What will make you successful in this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded hardware and/or software development (both preferred)
  • 3+ years of technical leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to create and communicate architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and system blueprints
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity standards, functional safety, and embedded system best practices
  • Experience leading new product development projects and influencing stakeholders across engineering and product teams
  • Familiarity with Agile, sprint planning, and scrum processes

Compensation

Annual base compensation: $140,000 – $185,000

Additional Compensation: Total compensation for this role also will include an annual incentive plan.
