Trane Technologies is currently seeking a Product Lifecycle Engineer – Electrical 2 who is a key member of the product development team which works closely with other Engineering teams, such as the Test Lab, Manufacturing and Product Management to create competitive designs for Trane Commercial HVAC equipment. The selected individual must have the technical expertise to support and lead product design projects, product validation testing, drive to root cause for quality & reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards and conduct projects in accordance with standard engineering and stage gate PDP practices.

Where Is The Work

On-Site (5 days). Travel between production plants will be required as needed (within 5mile radius). Both domestic and international travel may be required. Estimated travel is <15%.

This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive. Physical demands include extensive walking, bending, twisting, and climbing in and around production units.

What You Will Do

  • Support the testing and manufacture and installation of electrical equipment, including machinery controls, wiring, conduits, cabling, and electrical panels.
  • Create detailed design drawings and specifications for electrical panels, conduit, wire harnesses, and controls, using computer-assisted software.
  • Coordinate with Mfg. engineering and production workers to design and layout detail components/systems to resolve design or other problems.
  • Lead change projects to meet performance, reliability, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Evaluate the cost Review effectiveness, reliability and safety of certain electrical designs. Evaluate continuous improvements in design and manufacture.
  • Make corrections to BOM structures for errors in components and quantities.
  • Facilitate design reviews and test plan reviews to ensure a robust and reliable design.
  • Provide technical support to laboratory technicians, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, technical service and operations.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, and (3-5 years experience) in Electrical engineering or product design experience are required.
  • Understanding of HVAC system functions including refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow and ventilation.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently understand and organize information necessary to make engineering decisions.
  • Ability to make progress by completing tasks and deliverables in a multi-tasking environment (several concurrent assignments) on time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization.
  • Knowledge working with relevant computer applications, such as CADD (Computer Aided Design and Drafting).
  • Knowledge in wire termination process’.

Compensation

Base Salary: $70,000 - $90,000
