About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven Solar Maintenance Technician Instructor to
lead our newly launched 15-week Solar Maintenance Technician Program, developed in
collaboration with Leeward Renewable Energy and supported by Sungrow.
This is a high-profile, flagship program — the first of its kind in the U.S. with direct industry
backing — training the next generation of utility-scale solar technicians, including
transitioning veterans and adult learners. With real-world labs and cutting-edge equipment,
we’re not just teaching solar — we’re redefining how it’s taught.
You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring students graduate ready to work on today’s most
advanced solar systems.
What You’ll Teach; Lead
This role involves hands-on instruction, mentorship, and training delivery aligned with
utility-scale solar maintenance standards, including:
• Sungrow 3600 UUD Inverters
• Sungrow BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
• Combiner box maintenance and troubleshooting
• Load break switch inspection and operation
• SCADA systems basics and safety
• Preventative and corrective maintenance workflows
• Lockout/tagout procedures and job site safety
• Site-level communication and field reporting
• Work readiness site professionalism (PPE, documentation, site protocols)
Ideal Background
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in utility-scale solar O&M (Solar Maintenance, Field
Service, or Commissioning)
• Experience with Sungrow equipment (inverters, BESS) strongly preferred
• Proficiency with load break switches, combiner boxes, and basic SCADA interfaces
• Previous training, mentorship, or instructional experience is highly desirable
• Strong safety mindset and understanding of OSHA/NEC/lockout-tagout procedures
• Familiarity with veteran learners or diverse adult education environments a plus
• Comfortable delivering hands-on instruction in a lab-based environment
Responsibilities
• Deliver engaging, practical instruction for solar maintenance technician students in a
15-week cohort format
• Lead classroom training, hands-on labs, simulations, and assessments
• Maintain equipment and coordinate real-world demonstrations
• Develop and refine lesson plans (with support from Sungrow Leeward)
• Assess student progress and provide actionable feedback
• Support students with job readiness and transition to employment
• Stay current with industry standards, trends, and safety codes
