The Position

The purpose of this role is to ensure robust, credible, and future-proof environmental accounting methodologies that support strategic decision-making, regulatory compliance, and internal capacity-building. The role begins by strengthening internal capabilities and gradually expands to harmonize practices and tools across teams and business units. The role contributes directly to Toyota Material Handling Europe’s Net Zero targets and developing long-term environmental commitments. The position is to be based in either Willebroek, Belgium or Mjölby, Sweden.

Your Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and ownership of Toyota Material Handling Europe’s GHG (Greenhouse Gas) methodology and Energy & Climate policy ensuring they remain aligned with evolving business needs and external standards.
  • Ensures methodological integrity and audit readiness across Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon footprint calculations.
  • Translates regulatory and standard developments into actionable updates that support long-term compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Identifies and implements methodological improvements that enhance data quality and enable decarbonization.
  • Takes ownership of internal tools and processes that support environmental accounting and reporting, ensuring they are fit-for-purpose.
  • Ensures methodological consistency and integration across carbon accounting and abatement planning tools, enabling credible scenario development and strategic decarbonization planning.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor and first point-of-contact for methodology-related inquiries, fostering internal understanding and consistency.
  • Drives cross-functional alignment to ensure methodological consistency and shared ownership.
  • Benchmarks practices with peer companies.
  • Builds internal capacity through coaching, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration, enabling the organisation to contribute effectively to Net Zero targets.

Your Profile

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability, carbon accounting or environmental reporting.
  • Expertise in GHG protocol and a record of applying GHG accounting methodologies.
  • Understanding of audit processes and regulatory framework in sustainability.
  • Experience from an ESG software and digitalization of data flows.
  • Fluent in English, both in written and oral.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent through work life experience.

You are communicative, structured and can translate complex methodologies into practical guidance. You are willing to continuously develop expertise through learning or collaboration.
