ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Director of HR & Talent Acquisition with prior experience in high‑growth SaaS organizations to join our team. This role represents a unique opportunity to build and run the HR and talent function – from strategy through hands‑on execution – operating with a software‑first mindset and serving as a core member of the leadership team.
Touchstone IQ is a 70+ person organization today, primarily Denver‑based, with a growing number of offshore contractors. In this role, you will be the sole dedicated HR leader, building scalable, innovative people practices while remaining comfortable working in a dynamic, fast‑changing environment.

HOW YOU’LL WORK
- Operate as a one‑person HR team, owning strategy, planning, and day‑to‑day execution across HR operations and talent acquisition.
- Partner closely with the executive team to design an HR roadmap that scales with our growing software and technical services company.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, customer success, sales, and technical service leads to design effective team structures, professional training and development strategies, and modern hiring practices.
- Work with passion, curiosity, and collaboration, balancing a willingness to work resourcefully in the near term with an eye toward scalable, repeatable processes and systems.
- Continuously experiment, iterate, and leverage AI‑driven tools to improve recruiting, employee experience, and HR operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Foundational HR Operations
- Maintain comprehensive personnel records, employee files, benefits administration, health insurance coordination, FMLA, and PTO tracking using an HRIS to ensure data integrity and scalability
- Update and maintain employee handbook, develop organizational policies and procedures as needed for a growing 70+ person, primarily U.S.-based team with some offshore contractors
- Evolve and implement effective onboarding and offboarding programs to integrate employees effectively and maintain compliance with SOC2 requirements
- Ensure foundational understanding and compliance with OSHA workplace requirements and employment law
- Guide on HR matters and support conflict resolution as needed
- Support office management functions, including supply procurement and staff coordination
- Partner with company leadership to select, implement, and administer an HRIS, integrating core HR, benefits, time‑off, and basic analytics reporting
- Help design and roll out scalable professional development and training practices, including manager enablement, compliance training, and role‑specific skilling programs
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Lead full-cycle recruitment and hiring for specialized roles, including energy and sustainability professionals, energy efficiency engineers, software developers, and sales/marketing personnel
- Develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies to attract top talent in the competitive energy and sustainability sector
- Partner with COO and hiring managers to understand role requirements, advise on optimal team structures for software and technical organizations, and create compelling job descriptions
- Source candidates through multiple channels, including job boards, professional networks, industry events, and referral programs, experimenting with innovative and AI‑enabled sourcing tools where appropriate
- Conduct initial candidate screenings and coordinate interview processes
- Manage candidate experience to ensure positive company representation throughout the hiring process
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for critical roles and future hiring needs
- Negotiate offers and manage onboarding processes for new hires
- Coordinate, maintain background and reference checks, e-verification, and other foundational hiring practices
- Establish and continuously refine structured interview processes, scorecards, and selection practices aligned with SaaS industry best practices
Learning, Development, & Culture
- Develop scalable professional development frameworks, including leveled competencies, KPIs, feedback mechanisms, and learning pathways for key roles
- Partner with managers to identify training needs and implement a blend of in‑house, external, and self‑service learning options
- Support a culture of continuous improvement by piloting new tools and approaches (including AI‑assisted training and knowledge‑sharing) and measuring their impact
Regular Reporting to Leadership
- Recruitment Metrics: Time to hire and cost per hire for key positions, quality of hire metrics and new hire success rates, candidate pipeline strength and source effectiveness, offer acceptance rates, and candidate experience scores
- Operational HR Metrics: Employee retention rates and turnover analysis, onboarding effectiveness and new hire feedback, HR process efficiency and employee satisfaction scores, compliance status and training completion rates
- Strategic Reporting: Monthly recruitment pipeline reports with hiring forecasts, annual compensation benchmarking, and benefits utilization review, regular updates on policy implementation, and organizational development initiatives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Direct experience working in a high‑growth or startup SaaS environment required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior role (i.e., Director or Sr. Manager level)
- Proven experience in recruitment and talent acquisition in SaaS or technology organizations, including hiring for software development and other technical roles
- Demonstrated ability to operate as both a strategic partner and hands‑on executor as a “team of one”
- Must be a self‑directed problem solver with exceptional communication skills, a strong bias to action and innovation, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while working collaboratively across all organizational levels
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Background working in the technical sector, such as engineering, energy, sustainability, and/or software development, is highly desirable
- Experience working with offshore teams, including hands-on involvement in offshore recruiting and staffing models, is highly desirable
COMPENSATION
Compensation is dependent on experience, with a base salary ranging from $115,000 to $135,000 plus bonus. Additional benefits include healthcare and dental insurance, parental leave, a Denver RTD EcoPass, a hybrid work schedule (3 days in-office; 2 days remote), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days, as well as a matching 401k package.
