About the Role
Torch Clean Energy is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the company's growing accounting and finance operations. This is a hybrid role based in Boulder, CO, reporting to the Accounting Manager with regular collaboration across the finance team.
Torch is a small team that values members who are comfortable and excited to build and take on new challenges. Our accounting function is scaling to match the pace of our growth. We are transitioning from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct, and the Staff Accountant will support building the internal infrastructure to support a maturing capital structure. This person will be embedded in the day-to-day operations of a five-person finance team, taking ownership of AP processes and playing an active role in our ERP transition. This is not a bookkeeping role. We are looking for a technically grounded accountant who understands multi-entity corporate structures and can operate with the rigor that institutional finance demands.

What You’ll Do
- Take ownership of accounts payable , including vendor , AP and employee expense reimbursement processes (Bill.com , Sage Intacct AP)
- Manage general ledger accounting, bank reconciliations, and inter-company transactions across multiple legal entities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accuracy and consistency
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation tracking
- Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting
- Support the ERP transition from QuickBooks to Sage Intacct, including data migration, process mapping, and system validation
- Contribute to building scalable accounting infrastructure as the team and loan portfolio grow
What We’re Looking For
Required
- 1–3 years of accounting or finance experience, public accounting firm background or corporate accounting; internship experience considered
- Hands-on experience with Bill.com for AP/payment workflows
- Working knowledge of multi-entity accounting structures and inter-company eliminations
- Strong foundation in GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; formulas, pivot tables, data analysis
- Ability to commute to Boulder twice per week
Preferred
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct or NetSuite, with Sage Intacct experience highly preferred
- Experience with Bill.com or comparable expense management platforms
- Exposure to project-based accounting or capital-intensive industries (energy, construction, infrastructure)
- Familiarity with loan servicing accounting or debt obligation tracking

What We Offer
- Competitive compensation: salary range for this role is $75,000 to $90,000 annually
