Company Description

TIEEDI Permaculture Foundation is a sustainability organisation working on building zero-waste systems and regenerative solutions in the Eastern Himalayas and beyond. Our work focuses on bridging grassroots action, policy, and partnerships to create scalable environmental solutions.

We work closely with communities, institutions, and industry partners to design and implement systems that address waste management, resource recovery, and climate action on the ground.

Role Description

This is a field-based role in Kolkata as part of a short-term baseline study on plastic waste recovery systems.

As a Field Executive, you will work directly within the informal waste ecosystem to map how materials move across stakeholders such as kabadiwalas, scrap dealers, and aggregators. The role involves conducting field surveys, engaging with stakeholders, and documenting real-world waste management practices.

This is a highly field-intensive role, requiring daily travel within the city and on-ground interactions. You will be responsible for collecting structured data, making observations, and contributing to insights that will help design improved waste recovery systems.

Qualifications

  • Comfortable with extensive fieldwork and on-ground interactions
  • Prior experience in field surveys, community engagement, or grassroots work is preferred
  • Strong communication skills (Bengali/Hindi preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and navigate informal environments
  • Observant and detail-oriented, with the ability to document insights clearly
  • Comfortable using smartphone-based tools (Google Forms or similar)
  • Exposure to waste management, sustainability, or environmental work is an added advantage
  • Candidates with a background in social work (BSW/MSW) or related fields are encouraged to apply
