We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Project Manager to join The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside to lead the development of a pioneering new Landscape Recovery scheme in Wigan.

Wigan Greenheart is one of the first pilot Landscape Recovery schemes in England. We need an experienced project manager to coordinate this transformative partnership project to help reverse the nature and climate emergencies. The scheme will be an exemplar of how to extend multi-benefit, natural capital approaches to demonstrate how the post-industrial landscape can be re-imagined and how nature can be restored at landscape scale over the long term. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team shaping major innovative action that will receive national recognition, working across the borough of Wigan, home to the newly declared Flashes of Wigan and Leigh National Nature Reserve.

We’re looking for someone who can take the lead, organise delivery of the development phase, managing and supporting a small project team and working with other LWT and partner staff to draw together the different elements of the project into a delivery agreement. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of project management, can handle complexity and new concepts and deal with working under pressure to meet targets. The successful person will be resourceful, passionate about nature’s recovery and connecting people with nature and an effective communicator.

Landscape Recovery schemes represent a new approach to supporting long-term, significant habitat restoration and land use change of the sort that will be essential to achieve our ambitions and this role will be pivotal to achieving success.

We offer 28 days holidays plus bank holidays per annum, increasing with length of service. A friendly and flexible working environment with the chance to be a part of the largest nature conservation body in the area, working together to improve our region for nature as well as engaging and inspiring people to connect and take action for wildlife.
